A dramaturgical odyssey in search of the connections between antisemitism, assimilation, and the theatrical world view on the way to political Zionism.

THE JUDENSTADT examines the Jewish landscape in early fin-de-siècle Vienna. The plot centers on the psyche and career of Theodor Herzl, an author who would turn politician and would fight to rescue international Jewry from the rising tide of Austrian and German antisemitism.

A dramatic account of the life and times of a frustrated bourgeois playwright and his metamorphosis into the 20th century political visionary whose creativity, conviction, and self-confidence would shake the course of history.
